Step One

Cut approx 30cm of the 1mm wire and using your fingers mould the wire around the back edge of your cabochon.

Step Two

Using Round Nose Pliers make a bail loop with one side of the wire and wrap the other side around it to secure it in place, this will be the supporting frame work for the net.

Step Three

Cut approx 1.5m of 0.25mm wire and wind one end around the bail a few times to anchor it in position.

Step Four

Starting next to the bail bend the 0.25mm wire into a scallop shape (semi circle), then thread the end of the wire underneath the framework and pass it back up and through the scallop gently pulling it tighter but not so much that you lose the scallop shape.

Step Seven A

Start the next row by threading the 0.25mm wire through the original scallop instead of the framework. Continue the same method of passing the wire back up and through your new loop and gently pull it tight.

Step Seven B

Repeat step 7a using the second original scallop as your anchor point. You will see you are creating a second layer of scallops along the outer edge of your design.

Step Eight

Continue repeating this pattern until you have two complete rows around the framework. Then wrap the wire around the base of the bail and back to the starting point.

Step Nine

Create a third layer of scallops in the same manor and then offer your cabochon into the framework, gently pushing the netting around it for a snug fit.

Step Ten

Pass the remainder of the 0.25mm wire across the top of the cabochon and loop it through the outer edge of the scallops. Then using an 'outside to inside' motion lace up all of the loops to encase the cabochon securing it in place.

Step Eleven

Once you have completey netted the cabochon finish off by wrapping the wire around the base of the bail a few times and trim off any excess wire.
