The name derives from the collection of pieces of metal, scraps, fillings and other small parts jewellery makers would tend to collate over time. These left-over bits would later be collaboratively named findings, and recycled to craft new jewellery. Today, findings are sold both individually or in packs for the purpose of mass production.
