Learn how to make an Hawaiian under the sea necklace.

This step by step tutorial will teach you how to create a Hawaiian style necklace using a selection of stunning gemstones! You will need micro pearl seed beads, chrome diopside and citrine nuggets. Hawaiian jewellery dates back to the 19th century and it is believed that jewellery was popularly gifted for very special occasions such as birthdays, milestones and weddings. Jewellery was seen as an heirloom to be passed from generation to generation and each piece was treasured and valued deeply. Step One

Take a meter length piece of beading thread. Thread on a crimp bead, the round of the toggle clasp. pass the thread back through the crimp bead. Pull to form a neat loop and crimp using the crimping pliers. Trim the excess thread and add a crimp cover

Step Two

Thread on 16cms of the pearls

Step Three

Thread on a citrine nugget, pearl, crome diopside nugget, then pearl. Repeat this until you have threaded 36cms of alternating gems.

Step Four

Thread on another 16cms of pearls.

Step Five

Thread on the other crimp bead, the bar of the toggle clasp. Pass the thread back through the crimp bead. Pull to form a neat loop and crimp with the crimping pliers. Trim the thread and add a crimp cover.
